us festival. 25 years ago this month. less than a week later, they would play red rocks and then a few months later mtv started airing the sunday bloody sunday video filmed at red rocks and then my poor little pre-adolescent self would never be the same.
hyperness. awkwardness. blinding awesomeness. i was too young at the time to recognize out of time / out of tune-ness.
there are plenty of other good bootlegs from this era floating around. shame that they don't seem to be planning to officially release any with the remasters this summer. as far as i can tell, nobody knows for sure what is coming on the boy, october and war remaster bonus discs. although, listings like this, that say war remastered includes dvd, make you wonder.

I have some video of this which includes an interview at the end. Of course the interviewer asks, uh... what is up with the, uh... 'climbing,' and Bono (who is fresh from stage and very obviously still on another planet) extols the virtues of this kind of behavior and proclaims with apostolic certitude, "The whole crowd was united at that moment!"
Which always makes me think, Yeah, the whole crowd was united in thinking, That crazy nut on top of the building is going to freaking KILL HIMSELF.
That gig is better than red rocks I'd say.
one of my fav bootleg dvd's
This is f-ing great. My guess is the HMV listing is innacurate, but it would be nice to get a bonus DVD.
you wonder what was going through his head when he was climbing that rope ladder. if he changed his mind halfway up - he still had to go through with it & do something big when he got to the top. Love this video! Love U2!
Great!!! Love this show! Oh, And I miss a U2 show so much...
BTW, P.D. Hewson is great!
Congrats to him! After all today is his Birthday! 48 and counting :)
There are two really great things about this, one is Bono's hair. The other is his shirt.
and the third is larry's bare baby legs!
bono rips his shirt off at the very end of that electric co video
Amazing, C! Wow, I'm reborn after hearing that show.
I love it when they combine Cry/Electric Co at live gigs. The live version from Boston from the 80's still gives me goosebumps.
