the gilded one

the washington post has a total ass-kiss of an article on bono today. it's a bit odd. like, very 2004 of them.

"This is a polarized and very divisive environment these days," former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle says somberly. "The one person who's brought us together is Bono."

...

"When I first met Bono, I was thinking, what does this man have to do with the people I represent?" says Rep. John R. Carter (R-Tex.), a third-term congressman from the district that includes the Fort Hood Army base as well as the blossoming suburbs north of Austin. "But listening to him, well, he's a straight shooter, and that's what we like back home."

the article opens with bono singing the beatles in the bathroom. really. and it ends by saying how divided washington is, but on the bright side: "What we do now is wait—wait for Bono to return, the one person who can unite us."

I can't bother to read the article. I'm a little transfixed by his hotness. Oh dear. I feel a U2 resurgence rising within me. (Or maybe that's just hormones!)

"I've always gone out of my way at U2 shows to show my support for the troops, but it's not something I sound off on. I gave up that right. I have become a single-issue protagonist. And as hard as that is for a mouthy Irishman who's more used to putting his foot in his mouth than his fist, I think people really respect that."

Well, that's the most telling quote of the decade!

Dude, I was totally going to like, send you the article via snail mail. The picture is hotness personified. But if like, it's too 2004 for you, I'll just hang it on my wall and admire his haircut myself.

Bono's secret power is his ultra-confidence. The photo suits the article well. That is one sure hypnotizing glare.

Thought it was kind of strange that the reporter of the article opened up with Bono marketing Across the Universe in a public bathroom - though I believe it is entirely true.
