haircuts make us very happy

larry mullen's new haircut made its first official press appearance in london yesterday. in addition to the drummer's new haircut, the big news is that the singer may be illiterate.
i have had the u2 by u2 book for a few weeks. i have read it all. although not upside down, like bono. i think it is definitely among my top 3 favorite u2 books. it really made me laugh, and it also made me sad. they are very self-critical people. the things they share in the book are pretty funny at times, and off-puttingly blunt at others. it doesn't make them seem special, except in the most ordinary ways. if that makes sense.

not to be outdone by the drummer's fab new haircut, bono's haircut got a haircut before attending the armani party last night. armani is donating 40% of proceeds from his red capsule collection to the global fund to fight aids in africa.
in non-haircut related news, part 3 of the riveting "day in the life of the edge" documentary is now online. do you know what happens in part 3? edge borrows a lifeguard's guitar, and then edge and bono break into an acoustic version of in a little while. swoon.

in other non-haircut related news, my computer officially imploded last night. this evening i am going to bring it to the apple store and threaten to kill everyone in the store if the apple peeps don't fix it for free. wish me luck.

My favorite bit is when the lifeguard informs us that the crappy 10-year-old $29.95 guitar Edge is attempting to make sound like a musical instrument has been "up in the rafters forever" and is only out today because "the A string broke on the other one," and Edge graciously goes, "Ah."
I have to say, I think part three of 'a day in the life of the edge' is the best. I mean, can you imagine how much that lifeguard was freaking out inside? I would have shat myself. And I love how Bono completely jumbled the lyrics. Classic. Eh. I love them again, C.
I just love your posts ::))
"the big news is that the singer may be illiterate".
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
The singer and the drumer... 50% of the band is illiterate :)
cris - i have to admit, i didn't notice larry's book was also upside down until after i posted it. but at least larry is not pretending to actually read his upside down book, like bono is.
hah! I didn't notice that Larry's was upside down until I read the comments.
What are your 2 other fave U2 books then?
I am all asquee, yes, a-SQUEE about Part 3 of "Edge's life." Why do they make me so happy inside? I really can't explain it. Any idea how to rip the three parts (no one's posted them yet, that I've seen)?
Also, from forever ago, pandaonline.com is the site to find the $257 Delta tix on. They're still there. We still do not have ours booked...we'll likely be tempting fate waiting 'till mid-late October, but at least we've got the hotel.
rosephile - i think all 3 parts are posted as "ripped" files in this thread.
and thanks for continuing to give me tips on how to get to hawaii ;)
u2 lorax - i think bono in conversation and u2 by u2 are my top 2. others i really like/recommend: the best of propaganda, killing bono, u2 at the end of the world, the unforgettable fire and walk on: the spiritual journey of u2.
i think it would take a whole other post to explain why i picked those.....
what are your favorite u2 books?
blue kite totally stole what I was gonna say. I snorted-laughed at that. I hope no one heard.
Good luck with your Apple plan. I will watch the papers for your arrest. ;)
"One Step Closer" is a great deconstruction of the spiritual messages in U2's music. "The Unforgetable Fire" is a great biography from thr pre-Achtung Baby days.
And yer man will be coming out with his own book "On the MOve" described as
" This small book, based upon the speech given by Bono at the 2006 NPB, delivers an inspiring and powerful message. Here, in Bono's own words, is a reflection on his own faith and a challenge to people of all faiths to reach across boundaries and come together on behalf of what the Scriptures call "the least of these."

Oh yeah,
Horray for LArry's new do. He's single handedly made me "in-style" again.
