the killers new album is due out september 19th. flood is producing it. flood was a producer on zooropa and he produced pop. i love pop. a lot. one would think this means the killers are making technofied rock, but brandon flowers says that the new songs are "big" songs that have been inspired by the music of bruce springsteen, u2, and depeche mode. they are trading synths and cold robotic vocals for full, swelling guitar melodies that wouldn't be out of place in an arena. oh dear.

pearl jam's singer says : "It's tremendous what Bono does. I don't know if I could do it, not the way he does. I don't think many people could. The physicality of what Bono does, the physicality of like, meeting with Mitterrand and then going and playing Sweden that night, and then more shows after that... I've told him that I was in awe of what he did, not only what he accomplished, but how he fuckin' did it, from the point of taxing his body. I told him this, and he kind of raised his eyebrows and asked for another drink." [laughs]
somebody please tell me that eddie vedder doesn't really think that francois mitterrand is still the president of france. raise eyebrow, drink drink........

i'm really looking forward to the new Killers... sounds like it could be a great followup or a big disappointment, we'll just have to see.
Killers music inspired by U2 and Bruce? (Not to mention Depeche Mode?) How soon will iTunes take my pre-order for this?
Sea Shanties? But Bono... Great Big Sea did that LAST year. It was a great album too.
Hey c, guess who just bought two tickets for U2 in Hawaii? It's supposed to be rescheduled for December. After a month of Canadian winter my bod will probably go into shock.
