mouse update : sneaky little mofo
okay, so last night i saw a mouse again. it had been a while. he/she ran into my living room closet. i opened the door and kicked all the shoes around. it ran out and went under my couch. it's little and brown and has 563 legs. or something. it is unstoppable.
i have mouse traps and mouse poison. this mouse ain't biting.
it seems like the mouse (mice!?) arrived at about the same time bono got his haircut. not that i measure life events around yer man's hairdo or anything. but it may be possible that this crafty little mouse with the short brown hair is, like, some kind of metaphorical symbol. or something.
i have decided that the mouse is a girl. it's playing hard-to-get. plus, it's a bitch.
[mp3]
beastie boys - she's crafty
[mp3]
public enemy - get the fuck outta dodge
yeah, so anyway, i hate the mouse. here's some other things to look at:
cbs 11 video : bono's dallas speech
flickr pic : bono at the zoo (?)
google video : chris martin on charlie rose
oh, and thanks to @u2 for pointing out that the sports illustrated cover story on lance armstrong and his role as an activist has some quotes from lance's "friend and mentor" bono.
peace

C- I hate to admit it, but I also have a mouse in my house, and it has entered my bedroom more than once. I didn't want to kill it so I set up a makeshift trap that consisted of a cheeto on string hanging from a stick that was delicately holding up the top of a box. The idea was that the mouse would (lol) eat the cheeto and inadvertently pull on the string, which would pull the stick, which would drop the box on the mouse, safely capturing it, so that could release it to the world.
The mouse just ate the fucking cheeto without moving the stick, and then it called me an ass.
It was indeed a sneeky little mofo.
Thanks for posting a link to the chris martin video, (I'm totally stealing it from you), also I hate Lance Armstrong. I hate him so much. Mostly because he left his wife for Sheryl Crow. Euchk! But also because I think he's a dickwad.
Have a spectacular day!
I've taken a few of the furry little bastards out over the years and the best bait is peanut butter. They can't run with it. They have to get on the trap and then they're eliminated.
Yeah!
Brian
too bad you're not in virginia. my wife catches mice with her bare hands. no shit.
ekko - i totally thought you were gonna say you had a cat or something. what you said was so much better !
brian - i am taking your advice on peanut butter.
honey - you crack me up. for the record i do not care for lance, but you must admit he does have power and has done some very positive things for other people. the fact that a man with that size ego, who is so successful in his own right, would listen and take bono's advice is pretty impressive.
Regarding the Lance issue, hhmmmm I guess. We'll have to see what Lance's ex wife says on Oprah this week. It's rather strange timing, no? I can't stand him. He's an ass. And the fact that he's taking Bono's advice to be an activist shows that he's just trying to be one of the "cool kids who cares," like Brad Pitt. Gross. Don't get me wrong, I love people who care about others. I just can't stand when they treat the people in their own lives like shit.
We're still cool right? Please? Don't be mad at me C....
Sorry to just comment on the pic, but it's odd in so many ways! Firstly, the freakin' HOODIE looks very out of place on Bono. (I mean, *I* wear hoodies, I have nothing against them, it just seems too casual for him). Also, what the hell is going on there? There are the tuxedoed dudes, people with alcohol, and Bono and the dude with him in the pic in casual clothes. Huh.
rosephile : bono + hoodie = perfect.
honey: i am never talking to you again! (joking, obvs.) i don't think we disagree - lance is not my hero.
but i have to say, lance is not suddenly "trying" to be an activist. he has done as much for cancer research and support of cancer sufferers as anyone in the public eye. one might say bono copied lance's "live strong" yellow bracelet model with his one campaign wristbands.
you bring up an interesting point, though, of whether people will listen to people they do not like. lance = not nice. that is a fact.
i guess bono has brainwashed me into trying to look at people and seeing the positives in them and exploiting their good traits instead of dwelling on the flaws they might have. it is a very hard thing to do, and i usually fail at it ;)
and as for lance’s ex-wife, for real, she married him, so if he is an asshole, well that's her problem. i got my own issues to cry about, sister. (hello, mice anyone??)
Yes, C, Lance has done a lot with his (damn) livestrong bracelets and cancer research, i guess. Don't get me wrong, as a cancer survivor myself, I'm thankful for the money that goes into finding treatment. I really admire the doctors and researchers who put in the hours for the cures. And the volunteers who run the support groups for patients and their families.
Yet as someone "famous" to look up to, Armstrong just falls short in every way. I thought Dana Reeve was amazing. She embodied strength for her husband and herself -without arrogance. Michael J. Fox is another amazing one. Even the ever-ridiculous Angelina Jolie is tolerable. She was the UN goodwill ambassador way before she eventually made it cliche by adding a little Pitt to the picture. Sean Penn and his "efforts" can kiss my fat ass.
BUT, if I had to choose one person to admire for their activism, and actually putting himself on the line, I have to say...it would all come back to yer man. Now, I KNOW we agree on that!
sincerely, me ;o)
