eat yer candy bars

one thing that all of my friends from the uk and ireland have in common is that they freakin' love chocolate bars. (yeah, i'm not calling 'em chocky bars, sorry). my love goes to the twix, though milky way is a close second. the flake, now widely available in u.s. candy sections, was once so prized in my family that our neighbors up the street used to drop them off for us in our mailbox after they returned from trips to ireland.

the mars bar, which i never really liked, technically does not even exist in the u.s anymore. did you know that?

the boys who wrote "mars bars" don't really exist anymore either. at least not with their original lineup. the undertones were a favorite of british dj john peel. their songs were vivid and fun. the band's early work has been described as what the ramones might have sounded like if they were nice boys from the northern irish town of derry. read more about the undertones here. buy undertones music here.

i have been reading plenty of stories in the australian press the last few days trying to keep up with the u2 situation. i must say, nice job, australian peeps. you can stalk celebs like the best of them. way to go.

bono in his bathrobe

in bed with becks

please don't be confused. those are two different stories. bono is not in bed with becks. even i wouldn't wish for that, peeps.

also of interest:

finally:
[click this link] for a zip file of u2's 5-song set from the 1997 tibetan freedom concert at randall's island in nyc. setlist: gone, mysterious ways, one, until the end of the world, please. via interference.

Word up on the Aussie stalking abilities. When Springsteen was in Oz for the Rising tour, it was insane. I wrote to a friend, "I know more about the whereabouts of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in Melbourne today than I do about what's going on in Iraq."

You've probably seen this but it's a kind of chocolate I wouldn't mind...

ha! apparently there are a few different versions of the bono chocolates. i think they are from brazil. if i ever saw them here i would probably buy every single one in the store.

I don't even like chocolate but I'd probably by it just for the flirt factor. I bet they don't go well with the Bono wine or Bono pet food (for dogs and cats). Two other products I've seen online recently.

BTW how did you put a link in your comment. I tried to use html but it wouldn't let me :-(

i just use the coding for inserting links you can find here. html should work. but i am definitely not an expert on it....

twix rules my world. in high school, when i first tasted the sweet freedom of mom and dad giving me lunch *money* and having actual options other than the hot lunch they served in a little foil tin throughout junior high, my friend shannon and i would get a twix bar and a thing of fries for lunch. yeah, seriously. yet, somehow, i still weighed like 130. go figure. :))
